Welcome to Appalachian Highlands Housing Partners (AHHP), a non-profit engaged in providing long-term attainable housing, education, and job creation in Washington, Grayson, Russell, and Smyth Counties in the State of Virginia.
At AHHP, the focus is on partnerships to create lasting change. AHHP aims to address the housing affordability gap by providing sustainable, quality housing opportunities for individuals and families. This housing can only be provided when the housing ecosystem is addressed through education, increasing employment in the trades, building houses and creating attainable living solutions.
Through our unique approach, we separate the ownership of the land from the ownership of the homes. This means that while you own your home, the land it sits on is leased from AHHP. This structure keeps costs down and ensures long-term affordability for residents.
When you partner with AHHP, you’re not just buying a home—you’re investing in a sustainable community that promotes stability, affordability and engagement.
Building a Community
The primary goal is to create great neighborhoods with attainable and attractive homes for sale or rent. AHHP will acquire, develop and maintain a diverse range of housing options.
Land
AHHP buys land and develops a neighborhood.
Homes
The residential structures developed by AHHP are purchased by income-qualifying clients. Along with the home is a ground lease to ensure the homes are kept affordable in perpetuity.
Affordability
The ground lease that comes with the purchase of the home ensures that each sale of the residential structure continues to remain affordable for the next buyer.
Community
AHHP is managed by a board of directors, staff and community members who care about the people of the area.
Forever
The goal is to make housing affordable for a long time.
Education
AHHP supports students who wish to pursue training, education, certification, apprenticeships and on the job training in the construction industry.
Workforce
By helping build a strong workforce, AHHP supports the future of residential development in SWVA. AHHP is focused on success!
